Pathways V4.1 New Features
Pathways V4.1 has a number of significant improvements, as follows:
Person and Address Book
- Names can now be presented in "surname, firstname" order or in
"firstname surname" order.
- Up to 32 user-definable categories can applied to people, for use
as a filter when looking up people or when producing reports or labels.
- The Export feature will now export by category, so you can do a partial
export.
- Mailing label output is now available, with a screen where you can
define the label layout.
- The user interface has been improved, with icons added (instead of just
menus), and the ability to filter by letter of the alphabet or category.
Pathways Main program
- It is easier to get started: Pathways now starts in "beginner mode", which
simplifies menus and forms so that only the most commonly used features are
presented. An icon is present to indicate the mode, and the user can easily
switch to "advanced mode" to reveal the additional features.
- A standard address book is automatically created the first time that
Pathways is used, and it is automatically linked to any new plan so that
birthday alerts will show up. (Formerly the user had to link the address
book to the plan by invoking a configuration option.)
- More forms are now resizable. As the form window is stretched, the columns
widen to show more text (text that otherwise might appear truncated).
- The budget status report will now show more details of savings when run in
advanced mode.
Pathways Direct: Improved portability
- Pathways now uses "relative filenames" for all linked address books, pictures,
and reference files. This makes it possible to move a folder containing all of
your plans and files. Merely by changing the default folder option within
Pathways, pathways will find all the linked files. (In the previous version,
all the locations of linked files would be invalid if the folder was moved,
and the filenames would have to be corrected one at a time).
- The use of "relative filenames" in conjunction with automatic disk
redirection makes it easy to use Pathways on a memory stick. Simply put the
Pathways Direct Edition on the memory stick along with your data files, and
Pathways is ready to go on any Windows computer without any need to install
or reconfigure the software.
The Pathways Planner software is distributed and supported by
Freelance Wizards Incorporated (Canada).
